They say that it’s sometimes possible to kill two birds with one stone. Well, today we found 3 dead birds – two Eurasian Tree Sparrows (Passer montanus) and one Yellow-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier) – within relatively close proximity of each other.

The two sparrows probably died after flying into a wall within an enclosed space while the bulbul was likely to have been hit in midflight by a passing car. Common though these species may be, they’re still extremely valuable to our scientific research.

Bagged a dead Yellow-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier) on a tip-off from Ong Shuyi on the slope up towards LT32, now bound for the Avian Genetics Lab! Neck looks broken, so probably collision kill.
