Tropical Burrowing Anemone (Metapeachia tropica)
Changi, 17th August 2008

I’m not sure if this sea anemone was alive or not, but one doesn’t usually see members of this species uncovered and fully exposed; it usually has its entire body column buried in the sand. This individual definitely wasn’t reacting to gentle prodding with a finger.

Due to anatomical differences, Peachia tropica has been separated from other members of the genus Peachia, and now forms its own genus, Metapeachia.
