Javan Myna (Acridotheres javanicus)
Dairy Farm Nature Park, 8th May 2015

Came across this gorgeous dead Javan Myna (Acridotheres javanicus) while out birding today. You can clearly see the beautifully exposed sternum bone and parts of the wing bones (especially the carpometacarpus) beginning to show.

Myna strangled by fishing line at Lower Peirce
By Derek Liew, 22nd December 2014;

“I was taking a walk at Lower Peirce this morning when I encountered a myna strangled by a fishing line hanging on a Birdnest Fern (Asplenium nidus) growing on the branch of a Rain Tree (Samanea saman) at the car park.

“The myna was removed by a long pruner and we found there was a fishing line tied around its neck.“

On Halloween night, we have to say that one the scariest things for our officers (and the animals) is to find an animal stuck on glue. Thankfully, Abracadabra, the Feral Pigeon (Columba livia) was released following a couple of cleaning sessions. But Carmen, the Javan Myna (Acridotheres javanicus) rescued today, has gotten very badly stuck to the glue, and we hope that Carmen pulls through this.

Please, please help to spread the word not to use glue boards/traps for any animals

Unfortunately, we had to let Baby go…

Javan Myna (Acridotheres javanicus)
Buona Vista, 27th June 2011

This Javan Myna, found on the KTM railway line that runs through Buona Vista, had been decapitated. I suspect it was most probably killed by a passing train.

Javan Myna (Acridotheres javanicus) (?)
Tanah Merah, 23rd August 2009

I have no idea what species of bird this is, but based on the size of the carcass, body proportions, and the colour of the plumage, my best guess would be Javan Myna.
